Mid-to long-term Sustainability Management Strategies

Hyundai Steel has established mid-to long-term sustainability management strategies centered on the three key directions; 'Circular Economy', 'Sustainable Community', and 'Responsible Business', and is implementing specific tasks to achieve them. Continuously, Hyundai Steel will make efforts to achieve the goal of creating greater values and making a sustainable society by reflecting both domestic and overseas trends of sustainable management, as well as the demand of customers, shareholders, and local communities that are included as our stakeholders.

Internalizing Strategic Goals for Sustainability Management

Hyundai Steel is striving to internalize ESG management based on the mid-to long-term sustainability management strategies. We have identified 62 strategic ESG tasks to be addressed with a priority selected in 16 areas under Environment, Social and Governance, such as human rights, safety, environment, governance and supply chain, and 26 of them will be completed by 2021. In 2022, a total of 26 tasks will be implemented including 20 mid-to long-term tasks initiated in 2021, and our efforts to enhance sustainability management will be continued by developing new tasks to cope with changes in the domestic and overseas environments.
In addition, Hyundai Steel indispensably includes the category of sustainable management targets (minimum 5%) in the senior management performance assessment section. From 2022, executives and employees working for ESG-related sectors must set sustainable management performance targets to get a collective sense of responsibility for ESG management. Hyundai Steel will constantly concentrate on internalizing sustainability management by incorporating ESG evaluation criteria for achievement goals of executives and employees.

ESG Governance System

Hyundai Steel has established an ESG governance system that leads to the ESG Administrative Council, ESG Directors' Council, and Transparent Management Committee(under BOD), and systematically responding to ESG issues and managing ESG-related tasks and targets.
